The Kahkewistahaw arena and assembly hall is a mixed-use recreational and cultural centre located on Kahkewistahaw First Nation in Saskatchewan. The new complex is set to replace a failing hockey arena and act as a cultural hub for the small community. The recreational complex is separated into two components, the arena and hall; it is through this separation the structure provides a simple yet distinct architectural solution. Our core mandate for this project was to develop an architecture that is capable of supporting the hockey-focused community while having an influence beyond the confines of the structure.
